Bascom Hill

The symbolic center of the UW–Madison campus, Bascom Hill features not only Bascom Hall, also named after former UW President John Bascom; but the buildings of the Law School; the School of Education; and more. In the warmer months, you’ll find students lounging on the hill reading or talking, or even having class outside. And in the winter, you might stumble upon an annual epic snowball fight between the Southeast and the Lakeshore residence halls called the Battle for Bascom.
