Position title: Interim Administrator for Strategic Initiatives
Jane Duffstein studied Spanish Literature and International Studies at UW–Madison, and later earned a master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs at another large public university. During her time at UW–Madison, Jane spent a year in Madrid, Spain on a UW–Madison study abroad program, worked with the Diversity Team within University Housing, and lived in the International Learning Community. Before returning to UW–Madison, Jane worked in admissions, academic advising, and career services and supported first-generation, working class students, many of whom were students of color through their college journey.
Jane identifies as a cisgender, queer, white woman who is a first-generation college student, and attended a small Wisconsin high school. Her father made a career in the Navy and she is a proud daughter of a veteran (dad) and a teacher (mom).
Jane was the mascot at her high school for three years. In college, Jane participated in the Hoofers club “canoe for free” days and you can find her kayaking her way through Wisconsin most weekends.
