The cost of attending a university can be a major factor in deciding whether you will attend.

The Office of Student Financial Aid is here to help you and your family as you navigate financing your education both as a future student and as a current student. They are the experts on all things financial aid and scholarships at UW–Madison and offer a variety of programs, information sessions, and additional services to make paying to attend the University of Wisconsin–Madison as accessible and affordable as possible.

At UW–Madison, we offer both need- and merit-based aid. Financial aid is determined using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is completed each year.

*Students applying for Spring 2027 will also need to complete the CSS Profile, submitted only once an entering new student, which determines institutional aid eligibility.
