Hussnain was raised in Madison, WI, but attended the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. He graduated  with a BA in Studies in Cinema & Media Culture and an MA in Asian Studies. Hussnain was an instructor for Hindi and Urdu courses at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.
