Emilie Dickson

Emilie graduated from Grinnell College with a Bachelor’s in Political Science, and a concentration in Russian & Eastern European Studies. After 6 years working in international education exchange, she went back to school and obtained a Master’s in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania. She worked for three more years in international education before discovering her love for admissions at UW–Madison, where she’s been for the last 12 years.
Emilie spent a sizable portion of her childhood in rural northern Minnesota, before moving to Madison. She graduated high school from Madison East High School; go Purgolders!
Emilie took aviation courses in high school and thought about becoming a pilot. She passed the classroom portion of her private pilot’s exam but ultimately decided against continuing to ground school. She then decided she would be an aerospace engineer and landed an internship with an aerospace engineering company her senior year of high school. Once she got to college, however, Emilie fell in love with the social sciences and all thoughts of engineering disappeared. You never know where life will take you!
Emilie loves to travel and has visited 43 US states and over 50 countries around the world. She also enjoys baking, reading spy mystery novels, and spending time with her family.
